Giving mini horses a safe home again

Rescuing mini ponies from abusive and neglected situations - Bibi’s Mini Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to change the lives of mini ponies for the better. When possible we try to re-home minis once they have fully recovered from their mental and physical problems, aspiring to foster lifelong connections between well-deserving horses and families, placing them in successful, nurturing homes

Meet Our Minis

  • Bibi

In our rescue since July 2022.

Recovered from pneumonia, underweight, diarrhea and fungus.

Still battling severe dental issues and worms.

Bibi is an approximately 15 year old mare. She overcame many fears already and put all her trust in Christine. Other people are still very intimidating to her but we are confident she will settle in more and more with time. Bibi is the inspiration behind this non-profit. Once you have earned her trust, she is the most fun pony to be around. Willing to work hard, always in for tricks (and treats) and very smart.

  • † Chico

    In loving memory of Chico.
Came to our rescue on June 3rd, 2023 and sadly passed away on August 5th, 2023. He will be missed more than words can describe.

Chico has a severe leg injury from which he will never fully recover. He broke his leg in multiple spots years ago, the joint fused back together and after X-rays and a surgeons advise Chico will just be a pasture pony. For that reason he will not be re-homed and will stay in our rescue for the rest of his life.

He also has permanent and progressive eye damage due to UV exposure in his blue eye. That is why he now wears a UV protective fly mask.

Right now we are battling a bad sinus infection as well. He will need a tooth extraction and surgery to flush his sinus for full recovery.

Chico is an approximately 11 year old gelding. They don’t come any more kind than this pony. Chico is still very trusting in people after everything he went trough. He is a true sweetheart who loves attention.

  • Sassy

In our rescue since September 2023

Sassy is dealing with locking stifle syndrome. Both her stifles (you can compare this to your own knees) sometimes won’t bend which causes difficulties moving. Luckily it’s not a painful condition, just very uncomfortable. The best way to treat this is by giving her exercise and having regular hoof trims by an experienced farrier.

When Sassy first came to our rescue we thought she might be pregnant but after bloodwork and ultrasounds it seems she is not.

Sassy is a very easy going mini, she loves attention and food. She is also a little bit of a lazy mini, let’s say exercising isn’t her favorite thing to do, hihi.

We estimate her age to be around 14 years old.

  • Spot

In our rescue since September 2023

Spot has glaucoma in both his eyes. This is a disease which attacks the main nerve in the eye. The fluids in the eye can’t be regulated anymore which causes his eyes to swell up and increase pressure in his head. Because of this Spot is on daily pain killers. We plan on having both his eyes taken out at the vet clinic in the winter of 2023/2024. Since Spot is already fully blind anyway it is better to have the eyes removed so he won’t have a headache anymore.

Spot is still a little insecure when he has medical appointments. We suspect he never had a hoof trim either, he often needs to be sedated for the vet/farrier so it’s safe to treat him. I hope over the years he will gain some trust in our team and hopefully not be stressed out anymore for his appointments.

He is an incredibly sweet mini, absolutely loves treats and is very fond of his mini friend Sassy. And of course we have to mention his looks as well!

We estimate his age to be around 19 years old.
